Collaborative Design: Working with Schools and Communities
Our playground designers are experts at working with people of all ages, children to adults, regardless of the size of the group.
First, we teach the design process so everyone understands how design decisions are made. Then we follow the design process so we all:
- agree on the exact nature of our design project
- brainstorm solutions - typically each participant develops a model, drawing, or collage of magazine cut-outs to convey their idea to the rest of us
- define pros and cons for all ideas
- pick a final design that incorporates the feasible ideas
- find sources of money
- pull together the skills, materials, and equipment to build the project.
- sit back and enjoy the results
Because we involve everyone who has an interest in the project (students, faculty, parents, community members), your playscape design is exactly what you want, and it's within your budget.
Artist-in-Residence (AIR) school, and Community Art Program (CAP) grants are available through your state from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). NH Residents call 603.271.2789, or go to the State Arts Commission Web site.
